Why do Indian students study a lot?

Why do Indian students study a lot?

Note: This is the point of view of a 9th grade Indian student.

Talk about ironies and you would realize that India is a big land of ironies. I am actually writing this article to explain you one of the biggest ironies in India. I am sure that you would understand it as you read this article. Now, let's come on to our own Indian students. There is something very characteristic about us. We have the ability to keep our eyes open even when our brain is closed.

Time table of an average Indian student:

  1. Get up in the morning, pack your bag and go to school.
  2. Waste 6 hours in the school.(For many of us)
  3.  Eat lunch and head towards tutions.
  4. Listen to the teacher for 3 hours, complete assignments, learn answers and fun with friends.
  5. Come back, play, eat dinner and go to sleep.
Looking at the time table logically, one would feel that an Indian  student studies for 6 + 3 (School + tutions) i.e 9 hrs. "AOOOHHH!! We study for 9 hours", you would think  but wait...wait, let's come onto the ground level.
The main objective of studying actually is to gain knowledge. Knowledge is gained by doing things practically or at least understanding things conceptually. The real problem is that this is not happening with us. This is not happening because of both, the schools and our Indian mentality.

The Indian schools

Yes, our Indian schools are improving but only some of them. But the mass of we Indian students are still exposed to the old traditional schools. There are countries like Japan where there is a dominance of Government schools all over the country. And, look at the Indian Government schools, parents would dare to send their children at the Government schools. Why? Facilities are improper
We Indians must understand that the root cause of all our country's problem is lack of education and our Government is playing negligible role in the educational system. Therefore, these private institutions have come into the picture and have commercialized education
And, with this, the curriculum of schools must even be redesigned to introduce more practical things to learn. Oh, how can I forget this? Our Government is talking about digitization but what about this alien subject known as computers in school. Do the computer teachers in schools even know the basics of this subject, computers? Marking answers in the textbook is not going to make us understand computers. The way computers is being taught in our Indian schools presently is way too pathetic. We'll have to find some immediate solutions to rectify this problem.

The great Indian mentality

According to we Indians, Teachers or Gurus are no less than gods and goddesses. There is nothing wrong with this but reasoning the things taught by teachers is also not wrong. We Indian students have this feeling that asking doubts in front of the class is no less than a crime which has a punishment of being thrown out of the class, we think that going to tutions is compulsory, we think that things can't be learned online even if online content is free, we think that competitive exams are just gimmicks and many more things. The problem is that we have been accustomed to do these things. Ours is the generation which can change these things and fill all the loopholes in our educational system.
We students ourselves can change our schools and even the way the teachers teach. Why not stand up in the class and clear doubts with the teacher? Why not ask things to the teacher which are not in the textbook?
Why do we always think that things not understood in the school can only be understood in tutions with a bunch of friends?
There is absolutely no problem in switching off the T.V, opening online tutorials or good YouTube videos and understand concepts without any disturbance.
These and many more things if corrected in our mentality can change our perception about education.

Thinking about the irony that I told you at the start? Well, education is supposed to give us understanding but the Indian education system is good at the damaging the intelligence of youth, isn't this ironical?
And, finally coming onto the question, 'Why do Indian students study a lot?' . The answer is that we don't really study but we pretend to study well because we actually don't know, what exactly studying is?

Now, it's my time to study:)

Digital Marketing: A simple overview for beginners !!

You wouldn't be knowing it that even you are a part of some or the other Digital marketing campaign running in some part of the world. Digital Marketing has become so common in our lives but yet many of us don't know much about it. That is why, in this article of mine I thought of  giving you an overview of one of the commonest things in our life which is 'Digital Marketing'. But before giving you the overview of the subject, I'll like to tell you that Digital Marketing is not the kind of subject which needs too much of brain-storming, it just needs good presence of mind, common sense and a habit of researching. If you feel a little interested in this subject after reading this article, you must continue re-searching on the subject and if you are stuck, then feel free to ask your doubts by e-mailing me on suvenjagtiani@gmail.com or you can ask them in the comment's section!!

First of all, what is this Digital marketing?

Digital Marketing is simply, 'marketing on the digital platform'. Digital platforms may include websites, apps, videos etc. You all would be knowing that nearly every person on Earth is there on some or the other digital platform, so doesn't it make sense for a company to advertise digitally.
I'll give you an example:

Suppose there's an educational institute at Mumbai which wants to advertise for some of it's courses.

Conventional Marketing method: Put a big advertisement just outside Bombay's most crowded railway station (possibly, Andheri or Thane). How many people do you think would see the advertisement per day?
50000,75000,1 lakh......Ok, let's take 2 lakhs
But, how many people do you think, would join the course or even go on that institute's website?

The answer is, not even 0.5 %
Damn, you spend so much but then too the conversion rate is not even 1%. This happens because conventional marketing methods target irrelevant people in great numbers.

"The best part about Digital Marketing is that it targets relevant audience unlike Conventional Marketing methods"

Where can you find your audience on the Internet?

You now know that Digital Marketing is effective, but a question arises,"Where to do digital Marketing?" As we know that the internet is very vast, so you need to select the platforms where you market your product or company or even yourself.

List of  common platforms:
  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Pinterest
  • Google
  • YouTube
You yourself would be visiting these websites very frequently like billions of people in the world. Hence, for any digital marketer, it's very important to advertise on these platforms. Now, let's look at each of these platforms individually.

Marketing on Google:

I asked this question to one of my neighbors - What is Internet?
He simply answered - Google

I was like this:

2 minutes silence for every other search engine:(

Yes, Google is as big as the internet for many of us. Therefore, marketing on Google is the most important in Digital marketing.

Google Adwords

It is a tool made by Google. It allows you to make Ads on it so that you can put it on various websites of the Internet and even on the Google search engine. Adwords ads are not free to make, it works on the pay-per-click method. Ads made from Google Adwords can be classified as:
  •  Search Ads: The Ads you see on the search engines are called search ads. They appear when people search the kinds of business you have or the kind of product you sell. These ads help you come higher in the search so that there are more chances of a person clicking on the website of your product or business.

  • Display ADS: You may have seen some Ads of a product on different websites in the form of banners. These banners act as hyperlinks.

  • Video marketing: YouTube has become very common in our lives for video streaming. You would have seen Ads at the start of some videos. These ads are a part of video marketing.

Social Media Marketing:

Social media is the biggest platform for any individual organization or brand to propagate it's name. The audience reach is phenomenal as compared to any other advertising medium. The benefits of Social Media Marketing are :
i)  Reach and Visibility for engaging real time audience.
ii) Cost Effective with maximum ROI achievement
iii) Measure ability and Easy Performance tracking
Although traditional advertising mediums are still being used by bigger age old brands and many SME's too however start-ups are more conversant with the Social platforms to bring more enthusiasm in their brand positioning and reaching the targeted audience.

Many a times you have the flexibility of scheduling the ad as per your requirement at the budget you want to promote it for which gives added productivity to return on your investment.

As a strategy usually ad managers couple Adwords with Social media to enhance the brand visibility and awareness amongst targeted audience.

Various platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest ,Instagram etc. can be used effectively to create ads or simply boost posts to reach a higher percent of audience interested in your product or service.

Blogging:

Ha!Ha!Ha This proves that even you are a part of a digital marketing programme. Blogs, as may people think are not just things which just people read. It's much more for Advertisers. A company which wants to advertise can appoint a blogger and make him/her write flowery things, degrade competitor companies with his/her writing skills.
Even you would have searched on the net before buying a phone for yourself and landed up on a blog which would have convinced you to buy a particular phone. Many blogs including the one which you are reading now, have true content but there some others which are a part of some advertisement programme.
Blogging is by far the cheapest method for digital marketing and making a blog is also quite simple. You can make a blog on any of the free tools like Blogger,WordPress etc.

Digital marketing has a hell lot of things. In this article of mine, I have mainly targeted Search Advertisement, Display Advertisement, Social Media Marketing and Blogging.
Please don't forget about what I told you at the start of the article.

Thank you for reading!!

Digital India: Why won't it work in our country?

Hey!! I thought it was a joke..........but it made me realize that 'Yes' , my India is changing or at least trying to change. Yes, I am talking about the Digital India movement. I couldn't believe that such a movement could even be introduced in India. The biggest reason for this change in our country according to me is our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Our Government is trying to do hundreds of things for the betterment of our country but the most important point is that are these changes even made effective at the ground level or are such things gimmicks which will just add up to the speeches of our PM in the next elections? In this article of mine, I'll talk about everything about the 'DIGITAL INDIA MOVEMENT' and why it's chances of being successful in our country is very low.

What is the Digital India Movement?

Digital India is a campaign launched by the Government of India to ensure that Government services are made available to citizens electronically by improved online infrastructure and by increasing Internet connectivity or by making the country digitally empowered in the field of technology. The initiative includes plans to connect rural areas with high-speed internet networks. Digital India consists of three core components. They are:
  1. Development of secure and stable Digital Infrastructure
  2. Delivering government services digitally
  3. Universal Digital Literacy
Let's look at all the three components mentioned:
  1. Development of secure and stable Digital Infrastructure: The phrase that looks brightest in this sentence is 'Digital Infrastructure'.(What is Digital Infrastructure?) Digital Infrastructure is simply the structure required for digitization. Servers, Routers, Mobiles, various devices are all a part of digital infrastructure. We need efficient technology to have a secure and stable Digital Infrastructure. All this sounds quite simple but doing all this is quite difficult.
  2. Delivering government services digitally:  This one is actually the most important for our Government. To deliver Government services digitally, we first need a proper system. The first step to make such a system would be to collect all the required information from every citizen of our country and upload it on a huge database.(You know the population of our country!!) With this, we even need many digital platforms over which various government services are provided. These platforms must not be fragile like the ones which are already there(You would be knowing that servers of government websites crash so frequently!!)
  3. Universal Digital Literacy: This one is the creator of  most problems. Let's forget 'Universal' from this sentence and talk about our own country first. In our country, we must first concentrate on normal literacy and then talk about Digital Literacy. Just 74% people are literate in India and that's quite low. We'll discus a lot about this in the next section.

The LOOPHOLES in our country

We talked about big things earlier but will our country be able to do so?
As we discussed that for providing Government services digitally, we need to build a big system ourselves. We can't depend upon other nations and think that they are going to build such a system for us because the data which is going to be stored in such a system should be confidential. We need Quality engineers to make a digital system for providing services and precisely engineers from the IT and computer departments. But do you know, only a handful of computer engineers, precisely 5% of them can be termed as 'capable' in our country to do such a work even when India produces a whooping 15 million engineers per year.

Our Government is talking about providing Government services digitally but during the recent floods that happened in Mumbai, did we even get 1 message about a possible flood from the BMC knowing that the meteorological department had predicted it. So, if even one such message can't be given by our Government body then how is our Government talking about providing Government services digitally.

THE SUMMARY

We discussed the loopholes in our country which would stop India from becoming Digital India. Here is the summary of all the points:
  1. Our country doesn't have quality engineers who can make a secure and stable digital system for our country.
  2. Our Government bodies don't know the meaning of planning and even if they plan, they can't execute it.
  3. Our country doesn't have complete literacy. It just has 74% literate people.
  4. A Digital System can be hacked and confidential data could be stolen.
Our beautiful country India has a huge population and instead of taking everything on the digital platform, we must first improve the existing system. We must try to make our countrymen literate ,improve our educational system and then talk about any huge digital development. I hope that now you know that why won't Digital India work in our country now.

How can this blog article help you get away from Facebook and Instagram?

Haa!! Pic posted (Waiting for likes!)

Please don't LIE, this is even your reaction after you post a photo on Facebook or after you get a follower on Instagram...
      EAT-SLEEP-POST
      EAT-SLEEP-LIKE
      EAT-SLEEP-FOLLOW

I hope that one of this is not a motto of your life.
For many of us, Facebook and Instagram are sources of entertainment.
But now, it's time to get over all of this. This article is aimed towards all those who think that liking or commenting on someone's pics, following some strange people on the net is an entertainment.
Facebook/Instagram is not helping you develop your knowledge, it is wasting your time and bla bla bla. We all know these things but then too we have ignored the negative consequences of these social media platforms because we think that Facebook or Instagram are the only sources of entertainment in our life. But today, to keep you away from the 'stupid' Facebook and Instagram I'm going to introduce you with a new way of keeping yourself busy and entertained. "Annnd..the OSCARS, Oh sorry, the onus of keeping you entertained goes to:

      What is 'Quora'?

Now, the boring 'Wikipedia' kind of description of Quora is that, it is a question-and-answer site where questions are asked, answered, edited and organized by its community of users. This sounds like a very boring one but trust me, it is a bomb. Quora is a rocket packed with knowledge as well as entertainment.
People like us, raise questions on Quora about right from Physics, Chemistry or Maths to Clash of Clans to politics and even some dumb questions. People having knowledge about those questions, answer them and if your answers are really good, you get 'Upvotes' (rather than likes) for your knowledge (not for your photos)  and others can even follow you on it.
So, on Quora you don't follow strange people by just looking at their faces but you follow them due to the knowledge they have. Most of the times, the word 'knowledge' sounds boring but Quora and Quorans(users of Quora) have re-defined the word 'knowledge'.

      Why is Quora useful?

Suppose, you have a question in your mind(about any topic) and unfortunately it is unanswered. Just type it on Quora and you will get answers(to that question) from many people all across the world. If you don't find your question on Quora, then you can even raise that question on it. Don't worry about your question not being answered because there  are 190 million monthly visitors on Quora from all across the world who are eager about answering questions.(What more do you need?)

      Why is Quora different?

      Quora is not like

Facebook, where Christiano Ronaldo(popular footballer) is the most-liked person....

      It is not like

Instagram , where Selena Gomez(popular singer) is the most followed person.....

      It is not like

Twitter, where everything is just about celebrities, celebrities and celebrities

Quora is made by common people like you and me where people like us interact with our knowledge.

So, I hope that I have given you enough reasons for leaving the 'old', 'boring' Facebook or Instagram and signing up on Quora right now .

How is Google helping India develop?

      How is google helping India?

Hello all!! This is Suven Jagtiani writing this article. I write Educational articles and today I thought of educating you about what Google is doing to help India develop. You would actually think that you know a lot about Google because you use a lot of it's apps like Youtube, Google search, Google+ etc. however am sure that like many you might not have discovered Google completely. So, let's begin with the quest now and find how Google is helping India develop!

Why is Google helping India develop?

The simple answer is that Google is helping India because India is helping Google become better (What!!)
      Yes, it's true :)
India is a counry where 800 million people live in rural ares and don't have any access to the internet.
Google looks at these 800 million people as an opportunity rather than the inability of the country.
On the other hand, India is also a country where there are millions of Internet and Google users. Isn't this a huge amount of data for Google. Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google India himself explains that
"India gives us the early insights into the future of the internet"

      Let me explain you this:
This shows that people from Europe search more on Dekstop
But the Stats are totally different in India:

In India, more than 40% web searches happen on mobile
whereas in Europe just 17% web searches happen on mobile.
      Now, a question to you?
      • In the future, on which platform will most web searches happen? Mobiles or Dekstop?
The obvious answer is Mobiles. Web searches on Dekstop are going to die..

Google knew about this way before we did
But from where did it know this??
Very shockingly, it knew this by analyzing the changes regarding web searches of the Indian market

      Therefore, Google says that:
India gives us the early insights into the future of the internet
Yes, this is why Google is helping India.....

So, finally how is Google helping India develop?

You all would be knowing that our respected Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi is stressing on the Digital India plan and fortunately Google took it very seriously.

Google in collaboration with FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry)
started it's "Digital Unlocked" programme exclusively for India and that too free of cost.

So, what is this Digital Unlocked Programme?

Digital Unlocked is a specially designed course for all we Indians so that we can learn digital marketing free of cost. Half the world's population is on the internet, so doesn't it make sense to market your product digitally on the internet. Yes, it makes a lot of sense. So, why not learn it on Digital Unlocked
Google unveiled the Digital Unlocked programme has been started with the aim to train budding entrepreneurs and small businesses for marketing their products or business.
More than 5000 workshops have been planned and any small business can sign up for the programme.
Moreover, Indian startups have been joining Google’s Launchpad Accelerator where experts from the company help startups and many Indians have got the benefits of the programme.

On the other hand, some of the Google products which many of us are unaware, are helping Businesses all over the world grow.
Some of them are as follows:
      1. Google My Business: It gives you the opportunity to list your business on Google. It even helps you make a simple website for your business( It is very simple as well as free!!). You can check out more on Google My Business
Seen such pages when you type "places near me" on Google?
Even you can list your business in such a way using 'GOOGLE My Business'

      • Google Adwords: It helps you to make an Ad for your Business which will appear on the internet. Now, you must not think that even this is free. But no, you have to pay some minimal cost to display your business's AD on the internet.(Isn't this cool!!) You can check out more on Google Adwords and start making your ads initially for free.
Common man....Even you have seen such Ads on Google and cursed Google
for showing these Ads!! You can make such Ads only on Google Adwords(Even Google needs money to survive:)
      • Google Analytics: It helps you analyze the number of viewers on your site or app. It tells you various stats about your website or app. You can check out more on Google Analytics
Analysis is what the world needs!! That is what you can do Google Analytics!!

There are many other such products of Google which can help your business grow but these were some of them.

So, Google is mainly trying to help businesses grow in India and all over the world because it knows that Businesses open up most of the employment opportunities in the world and that's how it is helping India and the World develop!!

        Thank you Google!!
