History of Programming

History of Programming

History of programming
History of programming

Programming has changed the way we used the computer. The computer was basically invented to perform arithmetic operations, to perform simple tasks on an everyday basis in a short span of time. Programming gives a clear chance to us to give commands to the computer and produce the result we need.  Ever since the invention of Charles Babbage’s difference engine in 1822, computers have required a means of instructing them to perform a specific task. This means is known as a programming language. The computer languages of the last fifty years have come in two stages, the first major languages and the second major languages, which are in use today. In the beginning, Charles Babbage’s difference engine could only be made to execute tasks by changing the gears which executed the calculations. Thus, the earliest form of a computer language was physical motion. This process proved to be very tedious. In the 1940s, the first recognizably modern electrically powered computers were created.

The first functioning programming languages designed to communicate instructions to a computer were written in the early 1950s. John's Short Code, proposed in 1949, was one of the first high-level languages ever developed for an electronic computer. The program had to be translated into machine code every time it ran, making the process much slower than running the equivalent machine code.

In 1954, language FORTRAN was invented at IBM by a team led by John Backus; it was the first widely used high-level general purpose programming language to have a functional implementation, as opposed to just a design on paper. It is still a popular language for high-performance computing.

Pascal was begun in 1968 by Wirth. Its development was mainly out of necessity for a good teaching tool. In the beginning, the language designers had no hopes for it to enjoy widespread adoption. Instead, they concentrated on developing good tools for teaching such as a debugger and editing. Pascal was designed in a very orderly approach, it combined many of the best features of the languages in use at the time, COBOL, FORTRAN, and ALGOL. The combination of features, input/output, and solid mathematical features, made it a highly successful language.

C was developed in 1972by Dennis Ritchie while working at Bell Labs in New Jersey. C uses pointers extensively and was built to be fast and powerful at the expense of being hard to read. But because it fixed most of the mistakes Pascal had, it won over former-Pascal users quite rapidly. Ritchie developed C for the new Unix system being created at the same time. C is very commonly used to program operating systems such as Unix, Windows, the Mac, OS, and Linux.
In the late 1970sand early 1980s, a new programming method was being developed. It was known as Object Oriented Programming, or OOP. Objects are pieces of data that can be packaged and manipulated by the program.

C++ was designed to organize the raw power of C using OOP, but maintain the speed of C and be able to run on many different types of computers. C++ is most often used in simulations, such as games. C++ provides an elegant way to track and manipulate hundreds of instances of people in elevators, or armies filled with different types of soldiers. It is the language of choice in today’s AP Computer Science courses.

In the early 1990s, interactive TV was the technology of the future. Sun Microsystems decided that interactive TV needed a special, portable (can run on many types of machines), language. This language eventually became Java. In 1994, the Java project team changed its focus to the web, which was becoming “the cool thing” after interactive TV failed. The next year, Netscape licensed Java for use in their internet browser, Navigator.
Though Java has very lofty goals and is a textbook example of a good language, it may be the “language that wasn’t.” It has serious optimization problems, meaning that programs written in it run very slowly. And Sun has hurt Java’s acceptance by engaging in political battles over it with Microsoft.

Visual Basic is often taught as a first programming language today as it is based on the BASIC language. BASIC is a very limited language and was designed for non-computer science people. Statements are chiefly run sequentially, but program control can change based on IF...THEN, and GOSUB statements. Microsoft has extended BASIC in its Visual Basic (VB) product. The heart of VB is the form or blank window on which you drag and drop components such as menus, pictures, and slider bars. These items are known as “widgets.” Widgets have properties (such as its color) and events (such as clicks and double-clicks) and are central to building any user interface today in any language.

Perl has often been described as the “duct tape of the Internet,” because it is most often used as the engine for a web interface or in scripts that modify configuration files. It has very strong text matching functions which make it ideal for these tasks. Perl was developed by Larry Wall in 1987 because the Unix tools (used for text manipulation) were no longer strong enough to support his needs. Depending on whom you ask, Perl stands for Practical Extraction and Reporting Language or Pathologically Eclectic Rubbish Lister.
Programming languages have been under development for years and will remain so for many years to come. The first major languages were characterized by the simple fact that they were intended for one purpose and one purpose only, while the languages of today are differentiated by the way they are programmed in, as they can be used for almost any purpose. So we have dived into a history flashback of the language, everyone would have enjoyed it.

Programing | what is programming

Programing  | what is programming

Introduction to computer programming:

Programming | what is programming
Programming | what is programming

Do you know? Each and every process of nature is based on programming.  Nature sets a program behind any event. It’s an IT article so let’s discuss computer programming. “To design a program is called programming”, now question is that what is a program?  In computer program is a set of codes that perform a specific function. In this article I will discuss about, what is programming, Importance of programing, How programs work?, Top five programming languages, Basics of python, Basics of PHP, basics of html, basics of CSS, How to learn programing?, First programing language and best websites to learn programing. In this article I focused only on programing rather than complete software engineering.

What is programing?

Can you communicate with computer? If your answer is no then you are wrong. You can communicate with computer, But a specific language is required and that language is called programming language. We was discussed in introductory paragraph that “To set a program is called programming”. Let’s consider you to want a welcome message when you On your computer or a good bye message (just like your wife) when you shut down your computer. Is it possible? Yes it is possible. You just know that How to talk with computer (programming language), then you will design a program, and run that program. And your computer will read codes and return an output. So we can say that programming is a way to perform any function from computer.

Uses of programming languages:

Programing is used from simple window system to F17 jets. It is used from basic single program to program of million or trillions lines program. All computer system is based on programing. The basic of whole IT is programing. The person who design program is called programmer. I think a programmer should be in every field of life or profession.

Understanding computer coding:

This is understandable that computer cannot read human communicating language. Programing based on basic computer coding, (Binary coding, hexadecimal coding etc.)
So there are four phase behind all of this process of programing.
·
           Basic coding
  1. ·         Coding
  2. ·         Running
  3. ·         Executing

Basic coding:

It is basiccoding to install a specific programing language to your system. It may bebinary coding, octal coding, hexadecimal coding or decimal coding.

  • Coding:

A programing language is installed in your computer after basic coding. Now this is a time to write a code in programing language.

  • Running:

Running is a step to check your code, is it true or wrong? In this step computer read your code.

  • Executing:

It is the output of your code.

Let’s discuss these four steps with an example

You are writing a letter to your father for some money.
Then the language “English”(that is used)  is basic coding that is same in your or your father’s mind.
Then the second step is paragraph writing.
That paragraph is a program
Sentence of that paragraph will codes.
When you are writing a paragraph then this step is coding
When your father read that letter then this is running
And when he will give you extra money then that will execute (output).

Top five programing languages:

There are about more than 500 programing languages. But most famous are ten. Top ten programing languages are given below:
·         Python
·         C++
·         PHP
·         Java Script
·         Java
·         Swift
·         C#
·         Go
·         Typescript
·         Ruby on Rails
·         C
These are most important languages that are used in programing.

Basics of web programing languages:

First of all I will discuss about the history of HTML, CSS and PHP

The PHP is used with HTML and CSS the most important tools for web designing. HTML is used as user interference on the website. AndCSS is used as stylish sheet for HTML web pages. And PHP is used for functional programing in web development.

“Hypertextmarkup language” (HTML), It was 1980 when Berners-Lee on a contract with CERN, He gave a prototype of a system to share documents. In and in 1889 he purposed internet based hypertext system. Later on Burners- lee specified HTML.
It is interesting that the founders of the HTML and CSS were Friends and working in the CERN.Yes he was Hakon wium Lie ….. It was 10 October when He purposed a Language SGML , and CSS as stylish sheet for its web page.
In 1994 Resumes Lerdorf purposed Personal Home page (PHP).

First programing language to learn:

If you want to learn programing then Python should be first language. It is very simple than other languages. You can also go for C or C++ for first programming language tolearn.

Conclusion:

The result of above discussion is that: programing is most important part of any function in computer. There are many programing languages but above ten are most famous languages, programing has three phases:
1.      Coding
2.      Running
3.      Executing
Python should be first programing language. It is very simple than other languages.

What is Object Oriented Programming ? | OOP

What is Object Oriented Programming? | OOP

What is object-oriented programming | OOP
What is object-oriented programming | OOP

Object-oriented programmingis a technique in which programmers define not only data type of data structure but also types of operations that can be applied to the data structure.

The basic concepts of Object-oriented programming

  1.       Abstraction
  2.       Class
  3.       Encapsulation
  4.       Information hiding
  5.       Inheritance
  6.       Interface
  7.       Messaging
  8.       Object
  9.      Polymorphism
  10.      Procedure

We will discuss all these basic concepts mentioned above about Object Oriented Programming

                         Abstraction:

Abstraction is the process of picking out or abstracting common features of objects and procedures.

                          Class:

Class contains objects. There are different objects in the class. In other words class in an instance of an object. Each object belongs to its class.

                                Encapsulation:

Encapsulation is the wrapping or combine data which include variables and methods on which techniques or code acting or applying.

                                  Information Hiding:

Informationhiding is the best feature of Object Oriented Programming. In which necessary information is hidden from the user. The real-life example of information hiding is:
Everyone knows ATM machine is for withdrawing money but no one knows what’s going on the back end.

                           Inheritance:

In inheritance, the characteristics of class A transfers to class B. same as the parents and child relation. In which characteristics of parent transfer to the child but child characteristics cannot be transferred to the parent. In OOP its works similar.

The interface in Object Oriented Programming:

First, look at interface generally. The interface is the point between two things or a program that enables the user to communicate the computer. Similarly in Object Oriented Programming. the interface is some syntax or structure that allows the computer to apply some certain strategies on the object.

Example:there are different classes Class truck, Class bike, Class Car but something is needed to start up that is the engine (interface).

                       Messaging:

Message passing is a form of communication used in parallel programming and Object Oriented Programming...

                          Object:

An object is a component of the program that knows how to perform certain actions and how to interact with other perspectives of our program. The object is the basic component of Object Oriented Programming. In Object Oriented Programming object could be anything on which programmer work.

                      Example:

                      1.    A person
                      2.    A car

                          Polymorphism:

In simple words we can define polymorphism as the ability of message or some text to be displayed in more than one form. Or the best example is  a person who has more than one characteristics mean he is a father, he is a brother, he is a son.
In Object Oriented Programming, there are two types of polymorphism

                       Compile time Polymorphism:

In compile time polymorphism, where more than one method share the same name with different parameter in Object Oriented Programming.

                       Runtime Polymorphism:

In Runtime polymorphism, where have the same methods with the same parameters in Object Oriented Programming.

                      Procedure:

A procedure can be defined as a part or section of the program that performs a specific task in Object Oriented Programming.

In Object Oriented Programming language their depth in techniques, their different syntax techniques use to write programs, the syntax is the rules or regulation of writing programs in Object Oriented Programming language.

                                     Object-oriented languages are
                      1.        C++,
                      2.        java
                      3.        Python,
                      4.        PHP, Ruby,
                      5.        Perl,
                      6.        Object Pascal,
                      7.        Swift,
                      8.        Common Lisp
                      9.        Smalltalk.
Four Major Benefits of Object Oriented Programming:

                      1.         Modularity for easier troubleshooting.
                      2.         Reuse of code through inheritance.
                      3.         Flexibility through polymorphism.
                      4.         Effective problem solving.

The most important applications of Object-Oriented Programming are:

                      1.       Client-Server System.
                      2.        Object-Oriented Database.
                      3.        l-Time System Design.
                      4.        Simulation and Modeling System.
                      5.        Hypertext and Hypermedia.
                      6.        Neural Networking and Parallel Programming.
                      7.        Office Automation System.
                      8.        Artificial Intelligence Expert System.
                      9.         CIM/CAD/CAM System.

The applications are mentions above the major applications of
Object-Oriented Programming. Anybody can learn the Object Oriented Programming but some of few knows the where these skills have to apply. Programmers that have skills of Object Oriented Programming languages must demand much more salary for his work because it’s not easy to work or understand the machine. Today in the world human cannot bear other human’s behavior so how could it possible a programmer can work or understand the machine easily so he must demand a much higher salary in his field.
